UltrGolf was created as a part of an experiential design project in which I decided to design an evolution of a round of golf that could cater to players of all skill levels. Through competitive and technology research, I developed my idea and carried it out through a comprehensive storyboard.

The Growth of Golf

Over 24.8 Million people in the US played a round of golf last year (up 2%)

Still only 7.5% of Americans

Increase in new, young, and female players

Rise of golf related games like Top Golf and Putt Shack

 

Competitive Analysis

Currently existing solutions for a re-imagined game of golf include upscale mini golf like Puttshack, and a ball-tracking driving range, Topgolf. These places do a great job of infusing technology into the game, creating a fun social environment, and letting players of all skill levels enjoy the game. However, these are each a step away from letting everyone experience an actual round of golf.

 
 

Golf is hard.

With slices, shanks, water hazards, and sand traps to deal with, it’s easy to get frustrated.

On top of that, rounds last up to 4 hours and costs from $30 up to $500 a round.
